DIY EVP FTW

EVP, or Electronic Voice Phenomenon, is the practice of recording audio in silence or near-silence, then playing back the recorded audio in hopes that ‘the spirits’ have left messages for you. This field of research is part of a larger belief in the ability of spirits to communicate via all things electronic, aka ITC: Instrumental Transcommunication. We recently covered a fascinating story of spirits being visible when recording video feedback loops.

Over at Creative Procrastination, they’ve put together a set of instructions on how you, too, can get freaked out by the demonic voices you recorded in your kitchen:

Most EVPs consist of one or two words but may be a string of words resembling a sentence. I say resembling because quite often to people will hear two entirely different things when listening to the playback. To the best of my knowledge a sentence is the most that has ever been recorded. To date no one has been to record a conversation with a ghost.
