Now this here is a cool wee development.  I’m not knocking Christianity, I’ve just never read anything in The Bible that outright states that alien life exists…and none of my (admittedly limited) experiences with “teh hardcore” in this regard makes me think The Pope would be down with the notion.  BUT, then again, the dudes who wrote that book got mad shit wrong (don’t eat shrimp?  Fuck you, I love shrimp and it is on this planet solely for my consumption).  As an honest to God (literally - Hah!) armchair student of world religion, I’d say that - in practice, at least, when conducted by terrified white folks with money - Christianity is generally intolerant as hell (though it can be really really awesome, too).  It’s kinda cool that the official stance of an institution that’s made its bones on the subjugation of human will is trying to broaden its horizons a little bit.   What next?  I should play the fucking lottery.  Good times be rollin’.

It may be surmised that Hussein was not overly concerned with flouting the strict religious ban on sorcery: after all, didn’t the holy Qur’an say that Sulayman (Solomon) had used genies and other spirits on a regular basis to build not only the Temple in Jerusalem but other structures?

“Nigerian Tribune learnt that three cats were crossing the busy road when the okada ran over one of them which immediately turned into a woman. This strange occurrence quickly attracted people around who descended on the animals. One of them, it was learnt, was able to escape while the third one was beaten to death, still as a cat though.

According to a source who witnessed what happened, the cat-woman said she and the two other cat-fellows had travelled from Abuja to Port Harcourt to kill three people. “The woman said they came to Port Harcourt from Abuja and that they came to kill three people. She said they had succeeded in killing two people, but the third person, whom I guess might be a pastor, was difficult for them and that they were preparing to go back to Abuja,” said the source.”

Not sure what to say about this, really.  Eyewitnesses to the alleged shift in shape exist, but - as anyone who’s honestly researched topics like this can attest - anecdotal evidence is, half the time, not really evidence at all.  We need MEDIA, people!  Pictures, video, audio…the only time I feel comfortable giving strictly anecdotal evidence any kind of weight is when it’s some widespread phenomenon…like, say, the Self-Transforming Machine Elves or The Greys.  I can’t speak from a platform of experience on either of those topics, but the fact that a great many people from all corners of the planet have such parallel tales of their alleged encounters lends the phenomenon a bit of credence, at least from my perspective.

One of the worldwide three existing mayan codices (plus the Grolier fragment) to survive the book burnings by the Spanish clergy in 1521 turned up in Dresden in 1739. How it got to Vienna, where Johann Christian Goetze, director of the Royal Library at the court of Saxony purchased it from a private owner, is unknown, but it was probably sent by Hernán Cortés as a tribute to the king of Spain, who was also the king of Austria during the Conquest.

The Dresden Codex is considered the most beautiful and complete. It is made from Amatl paper( “kopó”, tree bark that has been flattened and covered with a lime paste) , folded accordion-style and written and painted on both sides. It totals 74 pages in length, painted with extraordinary care and clarity using a very fine brush. The artist used both sides of all but four of the pages of the codices. Its basic colors are red, black and the so-called Mayan blue.

The codex was written by eight different scribes, each with their own distinctive style, type of glyphs and subject matter. It is linked to the Yucatecan Maya in Chichén Itzá, the extraordinary ancient Mayan city situated in the north of the Yucatán Peninsula. It was made between A.D. 1200-1250, and was still possibly in use when the conquistadors arrived. The “Codex Dresdensis” as one of the few pre-Columbian Mayan hieroglyphic writings (most of them on stelas found in Palenque, one of the ancient cities of Yucatán) contains astronomical calculations of exceptional accuracy. There are almanacs and day counts for worship and prophecies; two astronomical and astrological tables, one dealing with eclipses and the other Venus and katún (a 20-year period) prophecies. It contains references and predictions for time and agriculture, favorable days for predictions, as well as texts about sickness, medicine, and seemingly, conjunctions of constellations, planets and the Moon. It also contains a page about a flood, a prophecy or maybe a reference to the rainy seasons so vital to the Maya.

The Maya’s reputation as astronomers is based largely on these figures. Somewhere in southern Mexico prior to 36 B.C., people had begun to use multiples of a 360-day year to produce a very accurate calendar for measuring long intervals of time. The Maya version of that calendar used as its starting point a date corresponding to August 13th, 3114 B.C., of the Western (Gregorian) calendar. Is is speculated that this base date was of mythological significance, calculated to coincide with the creation of the present world, which is supposed to end on december 21st, 2012 A.C. From that starting point, Long Count dates were recorded with a string of numbers whose value depended on their position in the string.

During World War II, Dresden was severely bombed, and the library suffered serious damage.Twelve pages of the codex were harmed and all the glyphs in the upper left-hand corners of the pages were completely erased. Some of the pages were erroneously mixed up and returned in wrong sequence into the protecting glass cabinet. Even so, it is still a “faithful representative of the precocity and elegance of the ancient Maya,” according to Salvador Toscano (1912-1949), historian, archaeologist and critic of Mexican art.

The codex is probably one of the best remaining example of the Maya’s gift for artistry - I get a definite comic-strip vibe from it, but that’s probably because I’m a huge nerd about stuff like that. Sitchin’s theory proposes the planets Tiamat and Nibiru. Tiamat supposedly existed between Mars and Jupiter. To the Babylonians, Nibiru was the celestial body or region sometimes associated with the god Marduk. The word is Akkadian and the meaning is uncertain. Because of this, the hypothetical planet Nibiru is sometimes also referred to as Marduk. Sitchin hypothesizes it as a planet in a highly elliptic orbit around the Sun, with a perihelion passage some 3,600 years ago and assumed orbital period of about 3,600 to 3,760 years or 3,741 years, he also claims it was the home of a technologically advanced human-like alien race, the Anunnaki, which would have visited Earth in search of gold particles.

This news could be huge for all of our readers interested in the 2012 event. I still think the word “Anunnaki” sounds like some kinda sushi dish, but the proposed elliptical orbit of Nibiru outlined in much of the conspiracy texts found in the Dispatch Matrix could gain some credence here.

In the dark of night on April 18th, someone (or something) created the first crop circle of 2008. On Waden Hill, in the lovely hamlet of Avebury, Wiltshire, there is now a rather interesting geometric pattern crushed into the Canola plants. Measuring approximately 180 feet in diameter, this pattern is rather evocative of a spiral galaxy. Over at Crop Circle Connector, they’ve deconstructed the pattern, showing the many geometric intricacies of this pattern.

Of particular note, Avebury is also home to a rather large henge and a 5,000 year old stone circle - older than Stonehenge (found a little over 30 miles to the south).

EVP, or Electronic Voice Phenomenon, is the practice of recording audio in silence or near-silence, then playing back the recorded audio in hopes that ‘the spirits’ have left messages for you. This field of research is part of a larger belief in the ability of spirits to communicate via all things electronic, aka ITC: Instrumental Transcommunication. We recently covered a fascinating story of spirits being visible when recording video feedback loops.

Over at Creative Procrastination, they’ve put together a set of instructions on how you, too, can get freaked out by the demonic voices you recorded in your kitchen:

Most EVPs consist of one or two words but may be a string of words resembling a sentence. Now this is some fascinating breakthrough in technology! A Silicon Valley company called NeuroSky recently unveiled a device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The device, which looks like a pair of headphones, can interpret brainwaves and translate them into commands for a computer. Using the robust physics world of the Source Engine (Half Life 2, etc), a user is able to lift, drop and move objects simply by thinking about it.

As awesome as it will be to play video games using though control, the applications of this technology reach far beyond the virtual world. Other applications demonstrated include moving a small remote-control cart, again using nothing more than thought to control forward, backwards, and left/right motion. This would be a major breakthrough for disabled people like paraplegics. The applications are limitless - surgeons and the medical field, military applications, and even astronauts working in space.

Best of all? The technology is cheap and ready to mass-produce for consumer use. NeuroSky says that the device would only add approximately $15 US to the price of a video game. It will be exciting to see what kind of home-brew applications will be developed using this device, much as we saw with the “WiiMote” that came bundled with the Wii.

Some witnesses report seeing the glow of jet afterburners. Was this simply a military exercise? Were the lights simply flares? Was the boom an over-zealous pilot of an F-16 breaking the sound barrier? The local news report would have you believe all of these reports were the result of overactive imaginations, going so far as to propose people saw a streetlight and thought it was a UFO. The military is forbidden from breaking the sound barrier over populated areas.

How, then, does one explain the disc-shaped object with rotating lights, hovering in place for a considerable amount of time? Or the reports of some lights going from stationary to extreme speeds in the blink of an eye? Could it be that the military jets were intercepting a UFO, just as has been suspected in other recent events like Stephenville, TX? And one cannot discount the fact that this event occurred less than 36 hours before a magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit the area and was felt as far north as Wisconsin. It has been noted that UFOs are increasingly being seen prior to tectonic shifts.

The event could be interpreted any number of ways, but one thing is certain: Thousands of people reported seeing something they cannot explain, and no reasonable explanation has yet to materialize. Unless, of course, a two-county swath of people actually all mistook streetlights for a UFO.
